Glasgow Play Summit

The Glasgow Play Summit was a three day event facilitated by artist Nils Norman, the architecture and design collective Assemble, and Baltic Street Adventure Playground. We were asked to provide a workshop detailing contemporary understandings of children’s play and outline the innovative research methodology used on Wrexham Council’s first play sufficiency assessment, as well as considering the wider implications of our research findings.

Delegates were introduced to the conceptual framework used in our research and its component theoretical concepts through whole group presentations and participatory activity before being invited to consider thematically the influence of time, space and attitudes on children’s play and potential models by which continuous monitoring, evaluation and service adjustments might be made to best meet children’s play needs.
